My grandparents were Jimmy and Kitty Rafferty. My mum was Margaret Webb (nee Rafferty) does anybody have any memories of her. We lived in Pendoylan Street with my Grandparents until I was six weeks old.

Hi Joan, I remember you well. I lived in Pendoylan Street and we were in St David's school together around 70 years ago. Hope you are keeping well. It was lovely to see your messages on the Newtown Guest Book. Perhaps we'll meet at one of the Newtown Do's

Going back to the discussion of whether the streets north of the railway line should be included in the Newtown Association (Marc Brosnan & Paul Duggan May 2010), I would like to think that this association would, if they have not already done so, publically offer their support to The Vulcan Public House whose demise would be such a huge and tragic loss to the history of Newtown & this City. Can we have a response please?

Deborah, Re Rafferty missing from the list of names at the heading of the 'People' page of the web site. You may have noticed that McKeown is not there either. There are many Newtown names not mentioned at this point. That's because we have used an excerpt from Tommy Walsh's poem, 'Newtown: the Parish of St Paul's'. However, if you go to the 'stories' page you will be able to read the entire poem and find that 'Rafferty and McKeown are mentioned in it. And if you then go to the 'Memorial Garden' page you should find a link to the Newtown family names - over two hundred of them - which are inscribed on the pavias of the garden.
Hope this helps Aunty M x
